why i built pilet.

hi, i made pilet because i kept running into the same problem with every app made for collecting ideas.

a lot of apps let you save endlessly but that's all they're actually designed to do. others go the opposite way, they just hand you a blank page. a blank final draft file, a blank timeline, and expect you to figure it out yourself.

neither one felt exactly right to me. in the physical world, we have corkboards, messy notebooks, scrapbooks. but in our digital one, it's either save endlessly from a bottomless feed, or stare at a blank page.

i couldn't find a good tool for the messy part in-between. the part where a project's not nothing, but it isn't a finished screenplay or an album or a film yet either.

i believe collecting is genuinely a creative act. it's not some chore you do before the real work starts and it's not procrastination. figuring out what belongs and what doesn't is taste. that's where the vision is formed.

curation is creation.

and there's a lot more to sift through these days. more noise and more low-effort content. so knowing what belongs and doesn't matters more now, not less.

a pile is the container for your project outside your head. and eventually, the hope is that instead of sending someone the playlist, or the pinterest board, or the unfinished doc, you just send them the pile. everything at once. a more accurate container of what you're making.

so that's what i made. it's still just me working solo right now, so it's rough around the edges and it's gonna keep changing. if you want to reach me, or just say hi, you can email me at: hi@pilet.app.
